I am going to post a song (or at least attempt to) everyday over the next calender year. I'll post the song, and a little bit about what it means to me and why I chose it. Questions?

I love male singers with voices like this. It doesn’t sound like someone with a voice like this would sing to such light, pretty music. But he does, and it’s great. Enjoy!

Day 142:It’s Oh So Quiet-Bell
This song IS what love feels like. You’re just humming along, and then all of the sudden things get very loud and separated into segments, and it’s like…ah! I love Bjork, and this cover of one of her songs is a wonderful tribute to her.

Day 141:Get It On My Mind-DJ Zebra Mash

Get It On My Mind (DJ Zebra Mash) - Marvin Gaye vs. The Pixies
Two classic songs mashed together to make a double punch of awesome! Marvin Gaye’s soulful lyrics and The Pixies’ ethereal music takes these two songs to another level. I can’t help but think of Fight Club when I listen to this, but now since it’s Let’s Get It On lyrics I think about the subtle romance in that film. On how it was a relationship that surpassed the superficial and really got deep inside the far reaches of their mind. It was basically falling in love with two people. The person you meet at first who initiates the fiery flame. Then the other person who lies beneath that superficial facade that you truly get to know and love.

Day 140:Heart Cooks Brain-Modest Mouse
This is really a song you should know. Heart Cooks Brain in one of the best songs about a battle against yourself I’ve ever heard. “My brain’s the cliff and my heart’s the bitter buffalo.” Enjoy!

Day 139:Lucky-Radiohead
It’s Friday the 13th! How fun! So I chose Lucky, by Radiohead, because luck seems to be a big deal to a lot of people today. I know I posted the My Brightest Diamond version of this song a while ago, so now you can contrast and compare. Their voices are both pretty dramatic, just in different ways, and I think both versions of the song are beautiful.

Day 138:Fickle Children-Michelle Blades
Meet my new favorite female artist. She’s amazing, and I actually paid money for her music. THAT’S how much I like it. So, you know. Just…think about that.
I think she’s got such a great voice and an interesting style, and I love everything that she sings about. I hope you enjoy her as much as I do!

Day 137:Hoppipola-Sigur Ros
I feel so bad I missed posting a song on the day I got two new followers! Sorry guys, don’t hate me. I was busy having a mental breakdown!
Anyway, today’s song is one that take me back into the throws of Myspace and eighth grade. I found Sigur Ros on Myspace, and nearly cried when I heard this song for the first time. This was also when my love for foreign music starter growing, and ever since then, they’ve been such a passion of mine. They make some of the most beautiful music imaginable, and I really do love them for it. Enjoy!

To be honest, I had never heard this song before yesterday. I downloaded some really fabulous mixtapes from yvynl, and this was on one of them and it hypnotized me. Like Hypnotoad. Enjoy!
